GUN Ordered an XD9 subcompact today

Discussion in 'On Topic' started by strong like bull, Mar 16, 2006.

  1. They had a 4" for $50 cheaper, but I really like the size of the compact. It's not too small nor too big. And it felt like very high quality. I didn't realize that the back grip was rounded...it's a perfect fit and good weight. Everything operated very smoothly. My gun will come off the same assembly line as their current military order.

If you want a 4" cheap this guy is selling them for $415 new.

Now what do I have to look out for with this gun? I know the slide has rust problems. Anything else?

    what "current military order" :dunno:

nice buy.. pick out a holster yet? I'm assuming you'll be carrying, hence the reason for the SC

I'm going for the subcompact as well. I'll buy it this weekend if I can find a decent deal. Grats on the gun and they fixed the rust problem.

    Military order huh?

And the slides never had a rust "problem." You just can't be lazy and not clean your gun.

Good luck and welcome to the XDcrew! :big grin:

  5. The people there said that SA was fulfilling a military order :dunno:

I'll use the stock holster for now. I don't think I'll be able to get a CCW till the 4th quarter

I might get the slide hard chromed. Should've just ordered the bi-tone I guess.

The bit-tone looks sexy as hell. That's what I plan on getting unless I can get a really killer deal on an all black one.

If I were you, I would just get the service instead. It's not that much bigger. Plus you can buy a few hundred rounds with the money you save.

I have a service and a compact.. If I only could keep 1 the service would leave.. But see what the price is better on. I dont believe there is a supply price difference between the two.. Same cost to dealers for all XD's in similar kit ie.. action packs etc

  19. hmm...I was looking at mods for XDs and it seems that the SC is lacking in them compared to the service and tactical. Maybe I'll get the service after all :noes:

If its functional it doesnt need mods IMO.. Ive never been a fan of changing everything..

  21. I probably won't do much. An extended grip and maybe some fiber sights if the 3 dots aren't bright enough. It's going to see a lot of action though. I'll probably shoot weekly at the range and IDPA. But I also want to eventually be able to carry this as well.
