Now before the photo-nazis jump on and start pointing out the obvious- yes the Image is grainy. Yes it's very saturated. Yes it's supposed to be that way. Not freakin' everything has to look like it came out of National Geographic.

i like the saturation, it creates a mystery about the sandals, dunno what. i do not however, like the high grain level. tune it down a lil. just a smidgen 2 much grain for my taste imo

    i spy minor vignetting :) (

i think i would have put the sandals more to the left and had more beach showing and less fence...

I like the overall idea. I agree with less fence and more beach. Also, i would photoshop out the people far out in the background...or whatever those people looking things are. Between the first fence opening on the left, there is a light colored piece of wood that doesnt look in place to me, i would clone that out as well.

    Good eye !

Personally I hate the sandals in the shot. I think it would have made a cool photo if you'd left them out. They clutter the image. Maybe...maybe if there was only one sandal it'd be ok.

I really like this, and the grain actually adds to it, I think. Good job. :)

But I do agree with the idea of cloning out the people and that one little piece of wood in the upper left corner.

    It's beautiful. :big grin:

what lens were you using? I can see the vignetting too. did you use a polarizing filter?

i like it...i agree..not everything has to look like it came from a magazine...photographic art comes in many forms...some of which borders abstract. i like how its not 100% crisp and there is a lot of contrast

I don't think thats vingetting- as this is a crop out of the center of the original shot. You're talking about the lower right corner, right?

And yes, I was using a polarizing filter, but it has never caused vingetting, even with my lens at it's widest.

    FryingPan,
mind posting the original photo by chance? the top right and left corners seem to be quite a bit darker and i see it with a radial pattern almost...that's why i think it's vignetting, but i'm not sure...

I like it, but I think if it were only sandals, it would be better. For some reason I dont like the sneakers in it. But, I do like the grainyness and over saturation too.

I like it.... And unlike a previous poster, I think the sandals make the picture.

Original shot- you can see where I cropped it. Those corners you're looking at were originally desaturated and then burned sepia and then black. I don't see any pattern to it though.

no, the lower right corner looked fine to me. it was the lower left and the upper left. the darkening and slight bend i was seeing was what I was referring to. now that i see your original, it makes sense. i like the original too.
