I've got Bellsouth FastAccess ADSL and I'm using a router to split the line between 2 computers. When I first installed the system (2 years ago) I was getting 300Kb/s transfers on a regular basis. Now within the last 2 months I'm only occasionally getting 250Kb/s transfers on some websites but I average 20Kb/s-80Kb/s on most sites and P2P. Even transfering files from my buddy's comp (cable modem) I used to get 250Kb/s-275Kb/s and now I'm lucky to get 30Kb/s.

Is there any way I can check if its bellsouth putting a clamp on my connection, or if its a hardware/software problem? Also, what can I do to speed up my connection?

    Thanks,

    JK

What bandwidth rating are you paying for?

I dunno, they just say D/L speeds are up to 50 times faster than 28.8K

    I've got CRAZY bandwidth though. I can D/L from 10-15 sources @30KB/s

don't just run a speed sign. Do some tcp/ip tests, packet loss tests, etc etc. Call your ISP up and see what's the problem is also. Most every ISP needs your $$$$$ so they will do a lot to keep you satisfied.

My ISP said there aren't any problems.

Here's the results from the packet loss test:

those times don't look all that bad for an ADSL connection.

look into cable if you want cheap speed
