SO I think I am going to decide on teh AR-10. I know little about optics. What kind of magnification do you guys like for a 308? I want to be shooting out to 800 yds or so.

I've been thinking the Super Sniper 10x. Heard good things about them. They offer a rear or side focus. Opinions?

Out to 800yds, I'd probably want the extra magnification of the TRS-1, but of course some shooters use 10x scopes out to 800 and beyond. Army and Marines have been doing it on their M24/M40 for years (Unertl 10x, Leupold M3A 10x). I'm running a 10x on my Rem700 .308, but I don't anticipate shooting it past about 300 or so.

If you can push that budget another $100, look into the Falcon Optics scopes... those seem to be the hot thing on Snipers Hide for a budget tactical optic.

Also the new Redfield scopes seem pretty nice for the money. They are apparently built by Leupold and are a copy of the VXII scopes I believe.

You might PM Market Garden (best to try to reach him on TGV) as he is currently selling his DPMS LR-308.
