ive had this intellimouse explorer mouse for like 3 years now. i hardly turn off my computer and im wondering if having the mouse ON all the time can mess the mouse up. like every 10-15 minutes the mouse will freeze but the light is still ON. everything else works on my computer because i can still use my keyboard to do certain things. i also suspect it is a hardware problem because ive reinstalled the mouse drivers and it does the same thing

Like anything, the longer it is on the faster it will fail. It might just be getting old and about to die. Hey it is a Microsoft product.

Mine does the exact same thing - or rather it used to. Somehow it fixed itself after a while and works pretty well now :dunno:

PS. mine is about 3 years old as well.

the freezing is a common problem with the intellimouse 1.0. basically its was just new technology that didn't have all the bugs worked out yet, the 3.0 version has been working perfectly for me since i switched.
