I was looking to get my first rifle and the Rem 700 series popped up heavily throughout my search.

I was wondering if it is worth buying a used rifle for a few hundred cheaper than new. If so, what things should I be looking to inspect on said used rifle. Is there a satisfactory way to examine the barrel?

    Thanks for the insight

Read some of these articles, they off some good tips when it comes to buy a used firearm, search around and I'm sure you can find more.

Out of curiousity, what exactly are you looking for? Saying you want a 700 is like saying you want a Ford, there are countless models to choose from and countless purposes for each rifle.
