Thinking about buying one used in the near future. I know the Mazda 3s kick ass to begin with, but I've never really looked into the Mazdaspeed version.

    My brother just bought one.
$24k then he got like $2k worth of warranty and other shit he didnt need.

    Its cool and all.
Tons of room and the back seat can hold smallish to average sized people.
Motor is really slow to rev and respond but has a good deal of power but only within the powerband, outside of that thin spot its a dog.

    Should have been AWD.

    Transmission is crap.
3rd gear is sticky and hard to find.
Its notchy and gross to play with, the 6spd on my VW is far superior in terms of feel.

Also, the steering is sort of dead, not as touchy and communicative as I was expecting.

    In short:
Its a fun car but I would never own one. I want something more refined with proper drive wheels.

There's a used silver 2006 going for ~15K with 25k miles here. I may have to jump on it.

    I'd really prefer red, though.
