Its not for a while maybe a year or two but I wanted to see what everything thought of a few cars I was looking at. I'm looking to spend 20,000-25,000 and must be manual. Now the list I have created so far is as follows:

    1. 03-04 Ford Mustang Cobra
    2. 2000+ Camaro/Trans Am SS/WS6
    3. 05+ Pontiac GTO
    4. Subaru STI
    5. Mitsubishi EVO
    6. Honda S2000

Now I'm a huge fan of muscle cars. RWD or AWD are the first I'm looking at. I live in the north east so it does snow and I'd like to be able to drive the car in the winter and have some fun. I have another car that i could drive in the winter if i got a RWD vehicle. So tell me what you think and put in any suggestion as to what you think? I plan to save a bit of money for a down payment so thats why I'm planning ahead now.

:werd: And if it's Manual trans. you're worried about, I doubt it would be TOO hard to swap a T6060 into a GT using GXP parts....

1.) Pretty cool cars, can make some huge power
2.) Nice engines, but the rest of the car is absolute shit
3.) GTOs are nice, but look like Grand Ams
4.) An STI could be fun, but subarus arent the most reliable
5.) Id rather have an STI than an EVO, but EVOs are cool.
6.) This is the car I'd get out of the rest of the cars in this list. Awesome road racer, but would still be a good DD and get good mileage when gas goes back up again (and you're in denial if you think it wont)

So if you happen to like a car who's transmissions all fall out after 30k miles as long as you like it, don't ask anyone about it?

If one Mustang's trans falls out after 30K, do all of them fall out after 30K?

I don't know exactly what I want. I enjoy the power of the V8 but I think I want to get something that has good handling more. I mean I find myself playing in the bends more than not. I've been leaning to the EVO more then anything but the STi was second. The cobras always been a dream car and like stated before it can make big power with very little more. 100hp isn't hard to achieve with them. GTO, Camaro, and Trans Am I just think look sexy and have a nice V8 and are decently fast. The S2000 went along with handling but almost everything for them is expensive as shit.

how much are you looking to spend? Based on the group of cars I'm assuming this is in the range of $12-$18K??

Not sure if you'd be into BMW's but if you're looking a year from now the 2001-2004 M3's will probably be in that price range. Maybe even an M5.

Personally I've been looking at the C6 vette's and in a year from now I think they'll be <$20K.

Read the post, i said a car who's transmissions all fall out after 30k miles.
Even if it was only my case and I told you my transmission mount dissolved and it fell out while driving, that's irrelevant?

Well I was looking to get something between 20,000 to 25,000. That would be out the door price. I saw the BMW M3 but wasn't sure how reliable they are. I've heard they are rather expensive to fix but I have no hard facts just word of mouth. I should check out the corvette and see what they say about that.

I'm not sure there's one thing I can name that commonly go south on an 03/04 cobra. Perhaps people thinking the T-56 is too notchy, but that's just how they are.

Not if you have an alternator overdrive pulley in addition to the crank/balancer underdrive.
