I am seriously considering the USP Tactical along with some sort of can after tax return time. Anyone have experience with the tactical or supressed H&K pistols in general? Also is .45 the best choice for a supressed handgun?

.45 is a good choice as almost all rounds available easily are subsonic. You could also go with something 9mm, as 147 gr's are subsonic.

I have the full size USP .45ACP and love the thing. I assume the tactical is even better.

I'll tell you next week -- got one on the way.

In the safe now, I do have a USP 9mm. Good gun.

I've got a .45 USP, and am considering trading it in for a 9mm tactical

It's a great gun though. A 9mm compact might be in my future after this weekend :o

A friend of mine has one and likes it. I've handled it, and it's very nice, but very large.
His father refers to it as the "crew-served handgun".

CORRECTION: My friend has the Mk 23. Not sure about the tactical.

Certainly no expert, but I have shot this one several times.

Without the suppressor, it still felt like a very substantial, heavy gun. With the suppressor it was intimidating.

It was the smokiest, nastiest and meanest gun that we had with us on each time we shot it. When using the suppressor the smoke would pour out of the gun and suppressor for 10 seconds after firing. It covered my hands with smoky powder.

It was very fun to shoot. I would like to own one.

How loud was it with the suppressor and could you shoot it without ear pro?

Smokey? Ammo maybe? Mine doesn't throw smoke. I have a full size USP. It's not a tactical, but it's not that different. The USP is a very nice pistol. You won't be disappointed.

Yes, with a suppressor it could definitely be shot without ear protection.

And yes, the smoky nature of the gun could have been the ammo.

It was just a mean, dirty gun. I felt like I needed a shower after shooting it.

You list a used sig, but don't mention the option of a used HK.

I only spent 5 bills on mine. Which was a good deal, but not an unheard of deal. You can find them, just be patient and look around.

What's wrong w/ the Mk23? I don't game the least bit, but I plan on that being my next HK; that or a HK94. I'll soon sell my Tactical .45 and then double the funds to afford the Mk23. From everything I've read, they are the most accurate "combat handgun" on the market. Not that I want to take it to combat, nor CCW, I think havin' such a sweet-ass gun at the range would be quite nice. What beats shooting a MK23 w/ CCF accurizer and having virtually NO muzzle flip with a .45?

Anyway, as stated above, USP's can be had for around $500. I think my LNIB 9mm was very close to that.

The reason you felt you needed a shower after shooting the USP with the suppressor mounted was that the gas blow back is very sharp and throws alot of carbon back into your face. Especially if the suppressor has some sort of medium in it such as water or the CCF made gel.
The MK23 is quieter with a suppressor mounted than a USP Tactical in 45, We've tried it with an AAC Evo, CCF Impuls, and an SWR HEMS 2. However after saying that I have one USP Tactical and sold my MK23 and am probably gonna pick up another USPT for when my primary USPT goes down. Because of the cost of high cost of the MK23, I'd rather have 2 USPTs then 1 MK23. The trigger on a Mk23 is a bit nicer, the Mk23 is a bit more accurate and as previously stated the MK23 is quieter with suppressor. However they are both extremely durable (the notion that the match grade trigger on the USPT is the weak link I simply do not believe because I've put 1000 rounds suppressed on my USPT and have not had any sort of failure).

Why don't you go take some pictures of yourself pointing an assault rifle at a buddy and leave the discussion to the adults. :fawk:
