I'm looking to buy a 45 cal pistol. What do ya'll think about glocks. They seem like they are pretty good for their price. What do most law enforcement carry?

I prefer the XD45 because it fits my hand better. We have a gun forum here too :p

I would also look around and see if you prefer a 1911 style .45, theres so many options to choose from. What are you going to use it for? Will you be carrying it concealed on a regular basis?

    Smith and Wessom M&P series.

Go to the gun store and see what fits well in your hand. Also, if you have a range nearby you can rent a lot of stuff to shoot and see how you like it first.

I've shot the XD and the Glock and I prefer the XD over it. I needed an extension clip for the Glock to feel comfortable. I like the safety precautions on the XD as well

I was back and forth between the XD and the M&P. I didn't like the glock (G19) at all when I shot it.

.50 cal dessert eagle.. if you miss them.. they die from pneumonia... if you run out of ammo.. you can beat them to death with the gun..:)

i had a llam .45 cal and really liked the feel of it although it wasnt in the glock price range.. i dont know anyone disatisfied with a glock.. IMO go shoot both and see which fits your hand better.

Theres a forum called "weapons of minor destruction" here on OT. Some serious gun afficionado's over there. You might get more detailed answers in regards to your gun questions there.

I haven't got my liscense yet but am going to soon. Haven't really thought about what I want to carry. I take my S&W 357 to the gun range and I just wanted a 45 as well.

The XD has a lot of problems with it. Everyone compares handguns to Glocks for a reason. Personally I prefer HK USP but Glock is a close second

Mainly issues with the tennifer coating causing it to rust easily and triggers breaking at bad times.

the safety features on the XD are very nice...and it's a very enjoyable gun to shoot...

I've never heard of triggers breaking but I'm not an expert...
