$225.99 for 1,000 rounds is pretty hard to pass up but I have heard bad things about Wold ammo. However, that was specific to .223 rounds - anyone know if their 40 rounds are OK?

For plinking I guess they will be fine, in my clas a guy running wolf in his glock definitely had some issues with it.

    Wolf pistol ammo is garbage.

Here is the breakdown on Wolf.

Wolf 7.62x39 is garbage but most people shoot it out of the AK's so it really doesn't matter. I think this is half of the reason AK's shoot minute of zip code groups.

Wolf 223 brass stuff is ok, but not anything other than ok. Don't evepect to shoot tight groups with it, or hit stuff at distance.

    Wolf polymer stuff garbage.

I hear about steel case wolf 223 but have not seen any myself. Regardless all steel case ammo in a AR-15 is garbage. Every hard on the extractor.

Wolf pistol ammo is garbage. Could go on, but cliff notes garbage.

Wolf 22lr is very very good. It's not actually wolf, it's german match ammo rebranded as wolf.

I've heard the extractor stuff alot but is it really true? The mild steel case on some wolf can't begin to approach doing any harm to a tool steel extractor can it?

That said I don't like wolf anyway, its dirty and it stinks if nothing else. aimsurplus seems to come pretty close on that price with brass cased aguila.

To be honest you would probably have to shoot a bunch of it to do damage. One or two range sessions is not going to do it.

All I know is my AR smith threatens to back hand any of his customers who shoot wolf through one of "his" rifles. I need my smith so I would never do anything to make him angry

  7. I believe SK makes the Wolf .22

My view on wolf is this: If it's an eastern bloc caliber: buy it, shoot it, repeat. If it is a western caliber, only get the 'Gold' line, which is actually prvi anyways.

Also, apparently their shotgun rounds are made by the same guys that do there .22LR

yes the wolf slugs are pretty good. I used them for a while and now went back to the winchester ranger slugs. Mostly because the the rangers are a forester slug and the wad stay's attached for a few more moments. The reason is when I chronograph my slugs when the slug and wad seperate it gives me funny readings. Then I can't get geeky with my balistic software and figure out my slug hold overs at various ranges. Such as my 100 yard slug hold over at raton CO at 6800 ft above sea level.

I've used the .40 in my p99 before worked ok for practicing. If its cheap enough I'll shoot it, didnt have a problem with the .223 out of my AR's either, even if it does kill an extractor in the end with what you saved on ammo you'd still come out ahead.

    Just don't shoot their .308

    Wolf = Dirty as hell

I'll occasionally buy some of their pistol ammo since it's retarded cheap at my local shop. But I notice the powder doesnt burn very well and it'll spit a HUGE fireball out the end of my gun every damn time. Never had any problem with any other brand (Rem UMC, WWB, etc.)

Rifle.. same thing. Dirty as fuck. I normally dont shoot it unless I'm just plinking at an indoor range or under 50yrds outside just for fun. I've never had any problems firing it or extracting.

In one day I shot PMC, American Eagle, and steel case wolf through my bushmaster. PMC and American Eagle went through with no problems at all. The wolf however, failed to fire every two rounds for the two magazines I loaded with it. Friend who almost always shot wolf ended up having to replace the extractor on his dpms after it got all messed up. I will never shoot wolf again unless through an ak.

I also use "Wolf Gold" 7.5x55 ammo. It isn't actually wolf though, the headstamps are all PPU, Prvi Partizan. They make good stuff

when I had my AR shot nothing but Wolf through it, never had a problem and the myth about the extractor is crap too, that has been disproven through numerous test on ar15.com :dunno:

I am pretty much a Wolf only guy through my AR. It's the cheapest solution which is what is best for me. I'll occasionally get some brass stuff if I can't get Wolf, but I haven't had any problems thus far.

ahhh I totally forgot about that. I havent bought a box of 100 in forever. hah
I've seen some places that WWB is 22~25 bux for 100rnds. Though.

The local wally world near me is 12.xx for 50rnds WWB.. They normally dont stock the 100rnd boxes.

I shot some of that PMC ammo about 2 weeks ago. Never heard of it until my shop was running a sale on it. Is it full brass casing or steel/brass coating?
