I'd like to pick up something in x39 and AK variants are out because of CT's AWB. So just wondering if anyone here has one and what they think, any problems, etc.

friend of a friends has one, seems pretty fun to shoot.

the only question i ask is why pick an inherently inaccurate (and pretty cheap) type of ammo to shoot through one of the more expensive platforms?

if you're going to do that you might as well go all out and do a 5.45 AR to have access to really inexpensive ammo.

so whats the deal in CT? you can get preban ARs but not preban AKs? because an AK in 7.62x39 would be better :hs:

Keep the commie calibers to AK's. My useless opinion.

I just dont see a point to it. Maybe training for cheaper on an AR platform, but I'm going to take classes with my AK :dunno:

:dunno: if you want training for cheaper get a .22 drop in kit or even a dedicated .22 upper :dunno:

hell, i'd rather get an AR in 9mm before an AR in 7.62x36 or 5.45

Cant buy any ak variant in x39 regardless of ban status. I think owners who had them when the ban was instated could keep them but that really doesnt help me get one :o. I just figured I have a few AR lowers kicking around so why not go that route.

I'm thinking you could just pop off the upper, and dunk it in some soapy water. Then hose the shit out with CLP or something. Might not be too bad?

I dunno though.. I could probably load 5.56 pretty cheap, which would be fine for the < 150yd plinking I'd be doing with one.

I like my 5.45 AR. Very similar to 5.56, cheap ammo, th corrosive issue is overblown and takes an extra 30 seconds to clean. 2k rounds through mine with no issues whatsoever.

9mm over 5.45? Why? 9mm has worse ballistics, Is more expensive, and has less range.

wouldn't have to deal with corrosive ammo. i know, i know, it's not a huge deal, but is it one less thing to worry about :hs:

You'd probably have to clean it more often. 9mm ARs are diiiiirrty.
