I really want to get a second tattoo. I would like to get something that relates to my Norwegian heritage. I currently have an arm band that does not go all the way around on my right arm. I thought about getting something like a nordic symbol or some saying in norwegian on the underside of my arm. However, not exactly sure what I would want it to say. Well, I was going thru some old coins that I have and I found a 5 krone coin.

I think that the warrior would be awesome on my ribcage. Now, I dont know if I would want it to be all black. Or if I could get some color in it somewhere. Also, i was thinking about getting the saying/symbol on or around it.

Guess I'm just looking for some insight on what other people would think about it. Would it be best just to talk to an artist about it? Also, how much should I expect to pay for a large-ish rib cage tattoo?

It's totally down to the price the artist charges and how fast they work.

For example, the two main tattooist in my town charge roughly the same, however one is a lot slower, so tattoo's work out more expensive, but he also does much better work.

Ask for a quote from where you wanna go, sometimes they do you deals on big pieces too.

I still think it's a cool design and realise that they are very different, but yeah.. thought I'd bring it up :/

really? I've never heard of a place that doesn't charge by the hour. they'll give you a price for small work but anything thats going to take more than one session or more than a couple hours is always by the hour around here.

    :ugh:

Typically the only place that will give you a set rate for one piece are places where you pick something off the wall....I haven't been tattooed in a place with flash on the wall in 5 years.

Whether you know it or not, typically all of Tat shops do this. You may ask about a piece but, in their mind it is based on set up, sitting, and artwork...which adds up to a price based upon hour!

i think the design is cool, and ribcage would be cool - as far as design and all - find some reputable artists and talk to them about your ideas. talk to people in your area who have tattoos, find work you like, talk to that artist.... come up with something together.
