no i use the WWB 9mm FMJ for plinking. the JHP is for my concealed carry M&Pc 9mm. i'm just asking if this is a good choice of personal defense ammo.

those are sort of the hollow point counterpart to the ubiquitous (and gloriously inexpensive) WWB full metal jacket practice ammo.

so to answer your question, they aren't terrible but I don't think they are super great either.

the new hottness nowadays seems to be speers gold dots and winchester ranger T like the above poster said.

Either one are great choices. I wouldn't personnaly carry 147 but there is probably nothing wrong with it.

Do you mean the wwb load or the ranger t load (ra9t)? I think the ra9t is one of the best performing 9mm loads available.

well I got them at walmart. they had 100 round packs of JHP 9mm remmington UMC for the same price, but i've heard bad things about remmington ammunition. i'm hoping the WWB JHP will be fine. I mean, I know there's better out there, but you have to mail order it and its much more expensive. I guess I shouldn't be cheap about a round that could save my life though.

The wwb stuff is older stuff and isnt' quite the modern jhp that ranger t comes with. it is by no means bad either. I'd rather have the ranger, but you could do much worse.

Don't get Defensive ammo at walmart. order it online or go to your local gun shop or a gun show. Ranger -T is great stuff and it's $20 for a box of 50

I'm using 115 gr. Cor-Bon DPX right now. Pretty decent as well.
    M&P 9c as well.

They are NOT on the list. in fact Doc GKR specifically advises NOT to use them as they are a 10+ year old technology that's out dated and well surpassed by newer bullet designs.

HyrdraShoks are not BAD ammo... just old technology. Sure, they'll work fine, but there are much better choices out there these days.

If it feeds in your gun reliably, everything I've read about WWB JHP has said they are consistent and reliable in velocity and expansion.

If you can't afford to drop the money to buy a few hundred rounds of premium JHPs to test function and have some left to carry, the WWB is the best option out there.

Tests show they don't expand reliably.

i use winchester Ranger SXT 147gr +p+ for my carry load. never had a problem with it and i'd feel comfortable using it in self defense.

Which I tend to favor; I'll take a surplus FMJ round that my gun has already eaten at least 500rds of any day over a premium JHP that I was only able to pop off 10 shots with. The super bullet isn't going to do any good stuck on your feedramp.

But it's not really that bad a case, the WWB JHP aren't the newest design and certainly not premium, but they've shown to work pretty good. I'm not saying I think they're cheap enough to practice lots with, but they don't cost that much more than the FMJ stuff. If you can't afford to pay 4x your practice rate to break in your gun with a big name carry ammo, it's nice to know there are still options you can work with, and work well.

Its made from Winchester, same company that makes the Ranger series. They know what they're doing.
It might not expand like a Ranger bullet, but then again, its not one. But it will go bang, I've shot them at the range before, and they shoot very nicely.

Can't say I'd carry it though, lol, personally. But I already have tons of other kinds stashed away to choose from.

I've never seen it, but that doesn't mean they don't make it.
I've only seen it in 9mm, and only at Wal-Mart, lol.
