What's the consensus in here with regard to meat heads?

I used to be one, made the transition to a much more functional way of life.

    They annoy me.

    168 this morning :(

Starting next week I doing the lifting thing again.

I've got to get broli so I can non-technique power my way out of Tony's subs.

I don't want him to ruin me :noes:

being big and strong is a good substitute to training how to fight, benching 350, squatting 600 and deadlifiting 650 is the equivalent of being a black belt in jiu jitsu. You don't even have to train

    Thats my hope :x:

Honestly the lower back strength and explosiveness to be able to sprawl out of every shot is what I'm looking for.

He might beat my ass standing up but I /know/ he will eat my lunch on the ground.

So I am 182, and I have no problem slamming some dude that's over 250. (although I plan on weighing in at 169 for NAGA at the end of May)

:hs: I've never been really strong.

The one fight I did lift a lot for I felt stronger, but not "strong".

I'm really going to dedicate my self to this. I have a lifting partner now and we will be lifting 3 times a week.

I'm going to be concentrating on explosiveness. I'm going to start visiting in F&N forum to learn and get advice.

By October I will be ready :squint:

It has its value, but I can tell you I'd rather have 8 years of BJJ than the 8 years of hardcore lifting I have done up until this point. Thankfully I woke up one day and realized that I needed to make that transition, and did.

That said, I power out of things in BJJ that I have no business getting out of from a technical standpoint. Obviously that's not the goal of BJJ, but in the mean time it's my happy medium.

I've talked my way into a fight with a brown belt. I'm a blue belt.

Powering out of his submissions is high on my list of "things I hope to accomplish".

Get that core strength to maximum levels. Stay away from the gi. Gi > Powering out.

I think we all know my stance on the gi :mamoru:

Deadlifts and squats are the key to good core strength, correct?

I have to get learned about this weight lifting thing.

those are decent places to start, but you going to want to do a lot of bosu ball weighted moves. Do your presses on it, and so on. Lots of balancing while lifting will help with the core muscles.
