Opinion needed: to cut or not

    okay, my bulking didnt go quite as planned. im around 190-195 and 5'10" as stated in my other thread. http://forums.offtopic.com/showthread.php?t=2253487

    what im trying to get at is while discussing with a buddy today, he suggested that i did a dirty type bulk since i didnt wor kout enough while eating, and it all went to shit. he suggested i start over, meaning lose weight then build up. personalyl, i want to be back to a 175-180 nice size build, sort of like acura is

    any suggestions

    the only reason i dont want to bulk is i dont want the stomach weight. i feel though if i either cut, or continue cardio and workout itll disappear. my main concern is getting body fat down

    I would cut.. the moobs and lack of a real ab outline makes me think you are ATLEAST over 15-16% BF.

    As you get fatter you will be more likely to put on more fat and less muscle as you gain more weight. Also, once you get to around 18% of so you get into some of the health issues related with carrying extra visceral fat(atleast according to Lyle et al.).

    Some will obviously say "Cut what?? LoL". I realize if he cuts he will not be huuge but Rome was not built in one day. Not *everyone* will gain all or even a significant chunk of the muscle they want to gain in one bulking cycle. As long as he ends up w/ atleast some more muscle then he started out with at the beginning of the bulk he is still progressing towards his goal.

    going by that pic you need to fix your diet and train harder. You need more muscle, you will continue to just get fatter otherwise.

    im wondering the same for myself. when i started i was 160...now im ~175

    for some reason, i can't gain weight no matter what i eat :(
    i bought some weight gainer the other day...this will be the 4th day i take it. im hoping by feb. (supposed to begin cutting) i'll be a little bigger than now.

    i've been doing the routine tracezj posted (should be stickied) if that helps any....

    but what do you guys think? should i keep it for feb or should i extend or what?

    Keep bulking man. Just suck up the fact that you will gain fat, but you will put on muscle as well.

    but dude, dont you find it weird that i've only gained 10lbs...

    this is going to get me flamed but i have been working out on and off for like 3 months....ya thats right, 3 months of bulking and only 10lbs put on :(

    im doing something wrong and i really need to know wtf it is :wtc:

    Honestly, there looks to be very minimal muscle there. So listen to what Purevl said. Clean up your diet and training.

    my physician recommended that i cut as well. i was going for a physical for a job, and just happened to ask him. he said that i would be better off cutting the weight due to it only going to one location and that i should remember that if i train hard, ill gain muscle mass lol. cool guy.

    btw i racked in at 197 :ugh:

    My comment was directed at the thread starter, but IMO, you're either not eating enough, not sleeping enough, or not lifting heavy enough. If you've got all 3 in sufficient amounts, you're going to grow, guarranteed. If you're not growing, one of those three is missing.

    im going to go with not hitting the gym enough (ill only go 2 days, and ill play football for the other 2-3 days that id normally be in the gym). especially since winter break hit, before exams i was doing that cycle, which proved to fail. as for eating, im sticking to better foods as well

    Yeah you're burning a lot of calories playing football. You should try to track how many calories you eat just for one week.

    Not "maybe" that is what I meant. I did not mention anything about his ab routine.

    What I was saying is that usually when someone is < 15% you can see the overall OUTLINE of their abdominals but no other seperation. The fact that he is totally flat tells me that he is carrying a lot of bf.

    No offense but at this pace if he wanted to 'bulk' till he had a big base of muscle underneath he would be atleast 25%-30% fat. This is just too fat for me so different strokes for different folks.
