Its my flatmate's computer... We just reformatted this computer several days ago because this error (Operating System Not Found), among others, happened quite frequently... Now, the 'Operating System Not Found' is happening again, after a fresh install of Win XP..

Any ideas as to why this error happens... and what, if anything, I can do to fix it..?

Is it overclocked? Is the hard drive failing? Got a spare you can load an image onto? Running virus scanner? There are a million possibilities.

    Not overclocked.
The hard drive is, as far as I know, fine.
The first thing I installed after reformatting his laptop was Norton System Works Pro... No virus present..

    :dunno:

I wish I had a spare to run its image on but I don't :wtc:

    Memtest86 to test the ram.

Search manufacturer website for the hard drive to test that.

I got that a while back and it was the hard drive crashing.

That's a problem. Drop Norton like 3rd period French.
