I've been a fan/user for about a year, but I've had to switch to mozilla recently because I can't connect to facebook in opera. When I type in my login info and click "log in," nothing happens. It just hangs at that page forever. I never changed any settings and it happens 100% of the time, has anyone else been having the same problems?

Shouldn't be happening. Make sure you clear your cache and check your settings for any blocked sites. advance/content/blocked content.

I'm using two different versions of Opera between home and work and have never had this problem. Which version are you using? You might want to try upgrading to 9.5

I don't have any blocked sites set up, my firewall is disabled. I tried deleting all the saved passwords and clearing my cache and I'm still getting the same results.

If you can't fix the problem between keyboard and chair then I suggest you give Firefox a try before giving up on facebook, and hopefully, Opera as well if that fixes your problem.

Since it may be possible that somebody for the first time ever just found an obscure bug in Opera.

In order for a "bug" to be considered a "bug" it must be repeatable and verifiable by more than one person. Thus far, it's something wrong with his machine, it's configuration, or the user.

A configuration or a user for which a browser shouldn't login to facebook upon request escapes me.

aBigWreck, have you tried Firefox? If the problem persists then it probably is to do with the network or firewall, something obscure, again.

Firefox works fine for me, and I have the latest version of opera (v.9.5). I actually have the exact same problem on my home system and on my work computer, which are completely different systems/ configs. Honestly everything used to work fine then one day it broke on both systems.

Did you delete the old profiles after the uninstal. Go back into the program files folder, look for opera and delete it if it's there. Then do a search on the HD for Opera and see what you find. Most of it is probobly deleteable.
