Opening Ports?

    I want to open up some ports so that I can get faster downloads with BitTorrent. I know its something with going into the router and then advanced and then fowarding but then I get lost. I have a linksys router. HELP!?!?!! thanks

    are you sure you need to do that?
    In any case, your client machine has to have a static IP address, then in the forwarding panel set the port to whatever number and then put in the IP address of your machine. You can name it whatever. Just make sure you change your DHCP range to be like 192.168.1.101-192.168.1.199 and set your machine's IP to be outside that range, like 192.168.1.100

    advanced > forwarding > 6881-6999, select tcp and udp, enter the static ip of the torrent client and check "enable"
