yeah, I'm for it but its stupid in the fact that they shoudl make it ok in places that serve as long as it isn't a bar, If you go out to pizzahut and they serve beer or hooters thats one thing but if you are going to a BAR I always carry concealed, you don't know what drunk asshole is gonna gun grab.

I personally carry concealed when I go out to drink but I don't get drunk. If I intend to drive home I can carry if I don't intend on driving home cause I will be drinking heavily I don't take my gun. But the bars I go to have college kids, last thing you need is someone open carrying and some drunk asshole does a grab.

when i can afford my OWB, i will open carry on most occasions ... though the IWB will be there for when i get my CHP.

i wholeheartedly believe in open and concealed carry in all public venues ... except where a person intends to drink.

i think anyone, not consuming alcohol, should be able to carry in any restaurant regardless of whether or not the restaurant serves alcohol. but i do think it should be illegal for anyone consuming alcohol to carry a weapon.

i agree with the alcohol + carry = no no thing

but, then, the argument would be if you can drink legally to a certain limit and drive, why arent you allow to carry a weapon? and thats a very valid argument

so i would say that it would be up to the user's discretion when it comes to carrying and drinking

personally if i were to have a conceal carry permit, i would not have carried if i know i would be drinking, 1 beer or 10

I agree at "personal discretion". You should be allowed to carry, regardless.

from the mere stanpoint of not being able to properly control "no carrying while drinking" .. then yes .. user discretion would be the key.

but i think it would have a high possibility of abuse ... just the same as drinking + driving.

There is no law against open carrying at all. It is perfectly legal to do on basically all but federal property and court houses in VA.

you mean you dont need a permit to OC ...

you said you dont need a gun to OC ...

and correct ... you do not need any permit to open carry in VA

if the weapon is clearly visible, its legal.

treat it with the same rules that apply to dui-i. It's not illegal to drink/drive... but if you're "impaired" then it is illegal.

my point is exactly that ... treat them the same and they will be abused the same.

how many people drive while drunk or get to that point where they are unsure but do it anyway ....
adding a firearm to the mix will be bad ...

personally, if i am thinking about drinking, i wont carry.

in retrospect though ... law abiding / responsible citizens wont make that mistake in the first place ...

guess a new law wont change much ...
