:sad2: I'll be calling S&W on monday to let them know how unimpressed I am.
It feeds target ammo just fine: WWB, Blazer, UMC... you name it, but JHPs, not so much.

I went to the range saturday with my wife, and at the end of our session, I figured I'd try out some hollow points I had sitting around, and in light of all the issues other people have been having, especially with 9c's... I thought I'd give it a whirl.

Pull the trigger and it shot the first round... but as the slide slammed forward, it stopped. Jam.
All I had to do was jiggle it with authority, and it shut the rest of the way. I didn't have to smack it or anything.
Pull the trigger, fires round, jam. WTF. Jiggle and it closes the rest of the way.
    Repeat. :ugh:

I shot Hornady TAP 147, Cor-Bon DPX 115 (I think), and my Winchester Ranger-T 124 I've been carrying in it DAILY.
All got hung up on the feed ramp. I think it needs a major polishing.

Edit: Total of 800 rounds through it so far. Should be mostly broken in by now if you ask me.

    So everything is ok now?

Still unacceptable though. It should have worked the first time around.

Agreed. I was waiting to shoot JHPs until after 1,000 rounds... I dunno, just break the gun in first.
But in light of the problems being posting on the MP boards, I thought I'd try right now. Not good.
Its my carry gun, so either I live with it and pray for the best, or just carry WWB for awhile, lol. The latter is probably what I'll do for now.
But monday I'll talk to S&W about it. If they take care of it, cool. If it comes back with a polished ramp and it feeds reliably, cool. If not, the gun's gone.

I'll give S&W, and their excellent customer service, the chance to rectify the situation first, then make a decision on whether or not its worth it to hang on to the gun.

If I send the gun in and it comes back polished and reliable, great, problem solved.
If not, or it inherits another problem, I'm not going to waste my time. I need a reliable carry gun.

I really like this gun, so I really hope they can resolve the problem, because everything else about this gun is really nice.
But if its not reliable, and can't be made to be reliable, then fuck it. I don't have that kind of patience.

I've already dealt with a fucked up front sight that needed to be replaced, and a backstrap tool that didn't work properly. Small things I was willing to overlook since they weren't involved with reliability and were easily fixable at no cost to me.

Because if that doesn't work, and I end up having to send it in anyway, that could void the warranty.
That, and I'd rather make them do it... it's their fuck up, they should fix it. They should know about it.

If they get the gun and see the ramp's been polished, or tampered with, and it wasn't by them... they're going to either charge me or send it back unfixed.

    No thanks.

If it didn't have a warranty, or was out of warranty, I wouldn't have any problem doing it myself, or even send the gun in to a smith to work some things over.

But it does have a warranty, and its still a very new gun... so they can do it.

Yeah. We'll see how it ends up. Not the end of the world, but I'm not happy.

Everyone says S&W customer service is tops; but my experience thus far waiting for my promo gear (3 months and still no gear) has me thinking otherwise... I hope they come through for you. Let us know either way; a M&P could very well be my next handgun purchase.

Well, I think the promo stuff is understandable. This has been a huge fucking promotion.
I understand your frustration though. I didn't get this promotion... so at least feel somewhat happy about it.
I got a gay range bag. Its not even all that nice.

I'd say. What's the point of a defensive handgun, designed specifically for personal protection and daily carry, if it will only fire target ammunition and not defensive ammunition? :ugh:

If I wanted a target/range gun, I would buy another G17 or something designed more for competition. I bought this gun for daily carry.

Give S+W a chance,I've had two of there pistols back to them. Both were fixed to my satisfaction.
Bought a rem 11 87 Police shotgun,It screws up more than it works, haven't had time to send it back yet(shit happens).

Oh I will. As already stated, I will give them a chance to rectify the situation.
It sounds like people that are having this issue (mostly 9c's) are receiving brand new barrels when their gun is returned to them.
Apparently some barrels in a certain serial # range were not within specs, or the feed ramps were screwed up somehow; needing to be either polished, milled or just replaced.

So we'll see. I like this gun too much to just give up. Unless the problem persists.
I'm not going to be the fool that sends the gun back and forth to the manufacturer 5/6/7 times. No, I don't have that kind patience.

my M&P jammed once when I was shooting WWB in it. the extractor didn't correctly grip the next round it was chambering and so the round jammed cock eyed. i've shot it fine since. kinda freaked me out when it happened but it could of just been a bad round, or a problem with the gone. but like i said, it's been fine since. but i need to send mine out for a trigger job. its only $65

Good luck. My fullsize has had no problems with JHPs or WWB. That's all that's been through it.
Going to the range again today, hopefully I don't have any problems.
