Guard, FBI agent and employee shot at federal prison in Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (AP) — Authorities say a guard at a federal detention center in Tallahassee started a gunfight that left him and one federal agent dead and a prison officer wounded.

The FBI says the guard opened fire as investigators came to arrest him and five other guards this morning on corruption charges. An indictment alleges the guards brought unidentified contraband into the part of the prison where female inmates were held and sold it or exchanged it for sex with the prisoners or the inmates' silence. The indictment alleges that the conspiracy has been going on since 2003.

A law enforcement official says the guard opened fire with a personal weapon, wounding another Bureau of Prisons employee who was assisting in the arrest.

One of the people killed was a federal agent serving the arrest warrant; the other was one of the subjects of the indictment, who was working at the Federal Detention Center where the 7:40 a.m. shooting took place, according to a spokesman for the FBI in Jacksonville.

A third person, an employee of the Bureau of Prisons in Tallahassee, was also shot. The third shooting victim, who was not a subject of the warrant, was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, said Tallahassee Police Department spokesman John Newland.

According to the article he's a corpse, so I don't think prison is going to be a problem for him.

    I don't get the title...

FBI went to serve a warrant for corruption in a prison, something they investigate, and got in a gun fight... Not like anyone accidentally shot themselves.

    :dunno:

For prison guards, I don't think they have the most stringent admission requirements.
