I've got a critique in about 20 minutes of some of my pictures, and I'm not nervous at all because they've already been ripped apart by OTAP. It can't get any worse haha

Yeah, most other sites are way too nice. You'll never learn anything when they tell you a shitty photo is good.

I hate it when peeps come in and don't review. At least say something when stopping by.

I do admit I am guilty for this at times.

I've never got anything lower than an 'A' in a photo class, because OTAP is SOOOO much more critical than any photo teacher.

But you should see the peer reviews I give in some of these classes.

The other kids must HATE me. :wtc:

I do it when I don't see a photo worth saving or photos that are really good, I'll only bother if there's potential.

My skills have improved tremendously since I started posting my pics in OTAP and taking others advice.

I post lots of the pics I take here and I always get great feedback

It's always a blow to the ego but its the best way to learn. Once a mistake is pointed out you become more aware of it in the future.

I can always count on OTAP to deliver the Canon vs. Nikon threads that drag out longer and are taken more seriously than anywhere else on the internets. And then people cop-out with statements as if they weren't serious during the thread. Best entertainment ever

But a lot of ppl here think they are experts on photography. Now, if big time photographers like <insert famous photographers or director of photography's names, or even OT working pros> reviewed it, ppl might take their reviews a little differently. But reviews from OTers should be taken with a grain of salt.

OTAP has increased my skills tremendously. the straight up honesty here is what i love and expect. Unlike POTN where 95% of pictures are HDR's, look like shit, and everyone goes "nice pic" "awesome HDR" etc

i don't really agree with that.

we have a lot of talented people here. We also have a lot of people here who might not be as talented as photographers, but are still immersed in the field, see a lot of work, and give you actual honest reactions.

Then we have people who look for the smmmaaaaaaalllllest little thing wrong with your image, and expose the hell out of it. Which is worth it's weight in gold, since you probably wouldn't have noticed it til it was too late otherwise.

Besides, I don't need Dave Hill over here telling that my shots would look better if they had more HDR....

I like it too. OTAP aren't shy with criticizing. It helps me to become a better photographer.

    Thanks everyone :brofist:

One thing that does annoy me though is that some people post critiquing time and time again and we never see THEIR work. It kinda makes me re-think who to listen to and who not to listen to. Yes you can know the craft and not be amazing at it but it's good to see who is judging as well.

It's cause most of OT has work that would make you want to quit photography all together.

I'm not sure what one has to do with the other.
