Good news for the brits I guess after all that cash blown on a project that was over budget and what not.

Now lets see a RAF Eurofighter against an American Raptor :naughty:

That's really cool and all but how old is the Eagle now ? It's been in service for somethin like 20 yrs right? You show me the same results with the Typhoon and a Raptor engaging one another and you can color me surprised , in shock and awe etc. That match up is like puttin me up against a 40yr old in a dead sprint, of course im gonna win there is a 20 yr difference between us.
Footnote:No im not hating on the older guys on here, my 37yr old uncle would eat me alive in a real run but sprinting he's mine for like 50-100ft so I already know my place/role lol.

Ive seen HUD footage of an Aussie F/A-18 taking down six Yankee F-14's during an exercise in the early 90's.

Umm no, the F22 Raptor is our best fighter jet.

Edit: I have seen simulations where the Raptor has smoked 3-4 Russian MiG's.

The thing about exercises is they have rules, often bearing little relationship to the real world. A great example would be when the Indian Air Force managed to 'kill' some USAF jets, thing was the USAF jets were restricted with regard to weapons and sensors, forcing them to fight in a way they never actually would in an actual engagement.

Not saying that was the case here, just that it ought to be considered before drawing conclusions.

The whole reason why the Raptor was built was to replace older models like the F-15. I'd be surprised if a newer design like the Eurofighter DIDN'T beat an F-15. That would be a total waste of money spent on it. :eek3:

You are right about the india vs america dogfights. The jets were poorly equipped compared to the indian ones.

And also this 'mock' dogfight was as you can read, apparently without restrictions given the fact that they were most likely just flying by and the americans felt like playing with the britains new toy.

You have to realize, though, that a F/A-18 is a modern all-round fighter plane. F-14 Tomcat's are quite old, not being produced anymore, and were designed as long-range bombers. They are heavy 2-seaters, while the F/A-18's are single-seater and very manouverable.

So it should be no surprise that the F/A-18 took out a couple F-14s.

So... new plane can beat old planes? Are we supposed to be surprised? We hear similar results when we put F-22s up against F-15s. The F-15s got thrashed and (paraphrasing) "never even saw what hit them."

New technology is SUPPOSED to beat old technology.
