If you only had one choice of comic book character to follow, who would it be? Reason? I am considering getting into a comic, but would like some recommendations from you gurus!

That way I can skim thru some I might enjoy, without wasting time on those not worth it!

anything with Captain America. great leader, great fighter, all around  guy.

second choice would be Spiderman. he is always funny when he gets into fights. and the inner demons he faces make for a great story

or the Ultimates. easily the best story out in Marvel right now. but its not a character but a team :hsd:

If you only got one chance... one oppritunity...

I have always liked Spiderman, X-Men, Hulk, and Batman. But this was back in 89-92 time period when I lived in Germany. I got a little back into it back in 93 with X-Men and anything with Wolverine in it. Been since then since I really was into comics.

You can't make me pick one :o

Like stated above, The Ultimates IS the best thing happening for marvel. The Punisher Max title has been also nothing short of amazing.

Outside of marvel, my two favorite books are The Walking Dead and Ex Machina.

OMG I'd kill you if you tried to make me choose so that I wouldn't have to. At least I can get my comics in prison.

But if you oddly stop me from killing you, I'd recommend Ultimate Fantastic Four or the Ultimates for Marvel. The Ultimates is kinda on a bimonthly+ schedule, so if you get just one comic, that is teh suck.

If I could only pick one DC comic, it's pretty hard to say now. After the "One Year Later" jumps, they kinda messed with everything, so I don't know what's truly established ipso facto. That, and the quality of DC's stories has plummetted severely since Infinite Crisis. I would maybe recommend Action Comics since Busiek and Adam Kubert are gonna be on that soon.

Such a hard question...there's so many factors like who's currently writing, how much continuity you need to know...

I'd say Fables. Not really a team book, but it does have different characters who share the spotlight from time to time.

I'm going to say spiderman aslo.
    Good reference point.
Classic superhero in all respects, tip top writing, and fair share of turmoil.

If u dont love comic books after that, not much can save you.

How about the Civil War series thing? It seems to have several superheroes, and seems to have an awesome plot going on!

What is good about this particular series?

    heroes vs heroes = :coold:

Thr thing with this is to pick up the main civil war series, the front line series, and then some of the other books' civil war issues like a few of the spidey ones, the avengers issue with cap on the cover, etc.

For me it would be Deadpool.

My 3 fav comics EVER have finished (Battlechasers, Danger Girl and Crimson) so DP would be the on-going book for me.

if you mean follow ONE comic book title, i'd have to go with The Ultimates which is a team comic book title. Spanning story, great art, intense action, high drama

At the risk of sounding like a fanboy start reading Daredevil when Miller took over and stop reading after Born Again. Read all of Green Lantern until Zero Hour and then skip it until Rebirth. Start reading Batman from Year One onward.

They've always had solid storylines and with the exception of DD the quality on them didn't really slip over the years.

I remember moonknight from back in the day.

I think I may go with either batman or the whole civil war one. I am not looking to buy one comic a month, rather I want to get into a particular series/hero

If you remember Moon Knight from "back in the day" then I profusely recommend picking it up. Charlie Huston is doing such a great job of touching on everything from the old stuff, and Finch does a great job of visualizing everything.

So the new moonknight is out right now? Man I may just do Moonknight and batman. Moonknight has always looked badass to me, and bat, well he is just a badass. Which series do you guys recommend for Batman?
