Does using components from the same brand help when installing car audio, does it usually sound better if they are from the same brand?

Im thinking this because i spend most of my time with minidisc players, and the sound varies alot from different brand players and headphones

I can see how it might seem like buying all from the same brand might offer better compatibility or something, but in reality, it is not of any consequence.

Not 2 items in my stereo setups are from the same brand. Usually if their is a brand name being used more than once its in the reciever and cd/dvd player.

Now, as for speakers, if you are buying a 5.1 set, the 5 full range speakers would actually be a good idea to have all 5 from the same brand. The subwoofer doesnt really matter as much though.

I only used the same brand throughout my system because:

    1. IMO, mix & match systems just don't look/seem as professional :dunno:
    2. The colour matched my car :o

    However, I realise:

    1. I could probably have got a better performing system for the same price if I'd used different brands, and certainly MUCH better if I'd been able to spend a bit more :sad2:
    2. Every brand has a 'weak' area and/or overpriced/overrated area
