    I always thought that the bar on the standard hammer strength flat bench (Not the machine, just the flat bench made by HS), weighed like 20 lbs. I've been reading that the standard weight is actually 45 lbs. Is this correct?

    Lowest I've seen is 45. (Unless you count the smith rack, which I've heard people refer to as anywhere from 10-60lbs.)

    The smiths at my gym have a label from the manufacturer that says the bar itself without any weight is 15lbs.

    an olympic bar is 45. If it isn't a standard olympic bar, it could be pretty much anything. The fact that the bench is made by hammer strength is irrelevant.

    :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

    I love that when people bench on the smith with like 275lbs or 3 plates and think they are superman. Then you tell them to go to standard flat bench and they struggle with 245lbs.

    anyways, standard bar is 45lbs, some places will have a "beginners" lightweight bar that usually weighs 15-25lbs and the smith machine is generally 15lbs of overall resistance.
