even though im taking whey, i workout at night and looking for a protein supplement that will be more neccesary for me before bed. i usually take whey before bed, but thats only effective for an hour. so i thought i'd give casein protein a try for my "before bed snack".

i want to hear what kind of casein protein you guys are taking and how you like them. the only casein i found on bn.com was ON's...is that good stuff like there whey?

seems to work fine to me, hard to really judge if it is 'slowly digesting' but if I bang a whey+casein shake before bed I usually don't wake up feeling like I need to immediately eat.

that casein tastes like shit. I have it above my fridge for incase I run out of cottage cheese which will never happen.

my only issue with the casein is that it does not dissolve hardly at all, and you have to gulp down the slimy chunks at the top of the glass.

i've always just eaten cottage cheese, but the one time i took casein powder it mixed really poorly with water and was just a bitch to prepare

plus, if long digesting protein is your goal, whole food cottage cheese breaks down waaaaaaaaaay slower than powdered casein.

your body can live without protein for hours at a time...any difference would be very small. plus, at that price, it's definitely not worth it
