I do development on a system that has Linux servers and Windows clients. But it uses the Eclipse Rich Client platform, so I do alot of my development wither on, or through my 12" iBook. Thats why this is not a Mac Forum post (those guys are all photoshop users). As an OO convert desigining software to be implemented by whores of minions, I must do class, sequence, object collaboration, and state diagrams.

A friend turned me on to OmniGraffle. WOW. This is the bomb. It is far superior to Viso. It is just plain a joy to use.

just curious, having never used this software before, why do you think it is superior to visio?

Because it is very intuitive, and easy to use. But more than that... its a JOY to use. Its just so easy to get out what you want to express with zero effort that you feel liberated. Actually liberated. Its GREAT!

Its not often that software really impresses me. OmniGraffe does.

I have a screen cap of it in action, but nowhere to host it... AIM Peyomp if you can host the shits.

how is it for UML? That's one complaint I have for Visio. But I haven't found any other software that's actually better, and not too expensive.

It comes with diagram stencils for UML: General, Sequence, State and Use Case charts. And they are a breeze to use. Once I have a clear visualization of my "cloudy" domain model, I will proceed to UML them into classes.

This is actually one of those apps that make buying a Mac alot more attractive.

I second Peyomp's love for OmniGraffle. I have been a graffle user since version 1. It is extremely easy to use and great for making diagrams for papers and presentations.
