i pulled twice heavy yesterday during two seperate workouts, not that good of an idea apparently
I did seven sets on deadlift yesterday. Six sets of five followed by one set of three. 95, 115, 135, 155, 175, 185, 195
I only deadlift one day per week and this is only my fourth week doing it. I spent the first few weeks working on getting proper form and not lifting much weight. i.e. I only went up to 145 last week.
I only intended on doing five sets yesterday but after each of them I felt energized and capable of pulling more weight so I kept putting it on.
today my back is telling me that it might not have been such a good idea. but it just feels like muscle soreness and not an injury so I think I'm going to be fine
5x5 at 225 @ 152lbs. I'm dead today.
My lower back never gets sore anymore
My last deadlift was:
fucked up my back a little bit, took a week to heal. gonna lower weights on back day, ego is taking a big hit.
im pretty much done at the gym after that...my heaviest is 2x355
please make sure your keeping your abs strong...actually had a patient at my work who really messed up his back from deadlifts and not having enough ab strength...ps im a physical therapy aide
I haven't been doing anything for my abs.
I don't do any "beach" exercises
you might want to rethink that after your intestine comes shooting through your abs because they were weak.
do you have any suggestions on what I should be doing?
those main lifts will still help you build a strong core but any weighted abs (decline situps, rope crunches...) are a good idea. even regular crunches wouldnt hurt.
I was under the impression that doing the deadlifts and squats would be strengthening my abs. But maybe I'll start doing weighted decline situp too. How many days a week would be good and how many sets and reps should I be shooting for. Two days a week doing 3x8 sound good?
no they do strengthen them but supp is a good idea.
ill work them 3x a week @ 3x15-20 depending on the exercizes.
my back is fucked up as well (in a good way). 235x5x5 deads yesterday with double overhand! my grip is improving incredibly quickly!
I'm gonna try and pull 225 tomorrow
deadlifts > *
after 3 straight weeks of heavy deadlifts, along with some olympic lifts, and resting on the 4th week, I gained about 3 inches on my vertical. Went from 33 to 36"
I love it!!
355 3X3 the other day and I felt fine, just a little tight right afterwards.
6'5'' 227 lbs.
Started pulling about 2 months ago. Heaviest I've gone so far is 175. Think I've got the form, so if I feel good tomorrow, I'm going to attempt 205
did 3x5 going sumo last night
What's it feel like to dunk?
Those are my numbers after 4 months...not too bad considering I started at 95lb
I'm hoping to hit the 300 mark during this cutting cycle I'm on.
i heard that when doing core exercises, you should work out your body equally (kind of like do quads and hamstrings both, not just one). i do abs and obliques 3-4x a week, but no lower back exercises. i do deadlifts once a week on legs day. does that work out my lower back enough, or do i need more?
i dunno..i'm close
at 5'8, my standing reach is only about 85". 36" vert gets me about 2" over the rim. I figured if I can gain 4-5", i'll be set and olympic lifiting is about the only method I have not fully exhausted yet
