I'm so sick of this shit. This is nothing more than an obligation of gayness now.

    :wtc:

edit: I'll explain. This drill is idiosyncratic of the way our higher fucks over the company. This week is obviously finals for most universities. So, instead of a normal drill (whatever you imagine that being), we are due in tomorow, Wednesday, at 0700. Drill will last until Sunday night at some fuckall hour. We will drill in Northern Michigan. We will be sleeping outside. The weather forecast is an average of 48* and expected rain every day and night. The last time I slept in the rain I learned what a joke your "waterproof" bivvy sack is.

beg/borrow/steal/buy an army sleep system. I've been snowed/rained/sandstormed/baked in it and I have never been less than totally comfortable.

I have Drill on the 16, 17, & 18 of this Month. I will be going to the rifle range. I just admitted, with the help of a coworker that I have allergies. Hot Texas sun with grass and pollen everywhere FTW....

I'm gonna try to get my 2nd expert badge. :coold:
I'd really like to go the pistol range (never fired a pistol).

Oh, and I get of the Reserves in December.

    aaaaaaaaand back.

that drill was a fucking monster. well i managed to keep mostly dry at night so I didn't come home and kick the door in :)

We are going to South America for AT this year, supposedly as a "good job" for taking fallujah and shutting it the fuck down. Really though, all the requirements handed down from regiment has made drill godawful and they've been 3-5 days each lately, so our "thank you" has just turned into loads of extra work. It seems like we're being used as a pawn in some political relations so really its just a giant clusterfuck.

no doubt. really in general its just a different type of gayness. Balancing a civilian life with 4- and 5-day "weekends" and 26-day "2 weeks a year" is rough. I actually just got into a argument with my girlfriend because she hasn't seen me much the last couple weeks and wanted to see me tonight but I'm about to crash and might be passed out for the next 12 hours.

I used to bring a schoolbook or two for downtime wayyy back before our deployment, but we picked up the tempo and started cramming all kinds of extra shit into too little time. When we came home it just get going though...into the type of shit I've said above. I'd estimate I usually get 3-5 hours a night at drill, and being that its infantry I cant really afford to give up any sleep. Hell, it'd wouldnt even fly if I did and I'll tell anyone in my squad to get their god damn rest as well

It is what you make of it.

There are the jackasses that just sit around and BS all the time and never go the flightline. There are also the guys out there that do their training ASAP and jump right out so they can do something.

The opportunity is there to be a well trained airman, you just need some initiative.
