Just got my hands on the new D50 in and It's great :bigthumb: It has a really nice feel to it. Good weight, and a real handfull. The kit lens is one step above a paper towel roll covered in plastic wrap.

I think it will sell better than the D70s just based on feel. Super fast and large buffer. The only thing I don't like about it is that it is SD card, not CF.

Other than that, keep your eyes open for it and fondle one soon. :bigthumb:

SD cards are easier to lose, that's about it

CF cards are still around be many professionals have em and don't want to :noes: switch over ... all the new pro cameras will probably have dual media CF/SD

 use the nikon 18-70 f/3.5-4.5 AF-S kit lens instead of the d50 kit lens

I work at the call center for Nikon digital products, so I have my pick of all Nikon lenses. They have a full stock of every lens Nikon makes, as well as all nikon Digital products. It's kinda cool to see the cabinet with all the current production cameras in it. :bigthumb: Also the drawer with the discontinued models. :naughty:

Also the discount helps in the purchase of anything. :x:

    Ok... use the 85mm f/1.4, 28mm f/1.4, 45mm f/2.8, 60mm f/2.8 and 200mm f/4 micro

the 10.5mm f/2.8 should be fun on a small camera like the d50

I've got the D2Hs for a weekend at Mosport for the American LeMans Series with the 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6D VR lens ... I used it for my Zoo pics on my webpage www.cobbtech.net follow the Toronto link.

You didn't even mention it :p

Thrifty fifty + um.... 3x2x teleconverters = 400mm f...8? something rediculous. Borrow the good lenses and be done.

Couldn't get the D50 for the weekend :wtc: ... they have to run some tests and show the new training class the camera ... I got a CP5700 with the 15ED Teleconverter on it ... It's prob for the best seeing that I'm going to get pretty drunk at the hunting camp this weekend ... would be a shame to toss a brand new camera in the lake durring a drunken stuper.
