All I have to say is: :eek4:

Monday morning, I purchased Apple Care from the on-campus Apple Store. I register online. Five minutes later, I call them about my issues (HD making jacked up noises, the casing feeling flimsy and loose, and my ongoing screen flickering issue). DHL has a box at my doorstep by noon the same day.

I call DHL, have them pick up the box from the office before 4PM that afternoon. I check the status of the repair later that day, and they already have received it. This morning they were diagnosing the probelms, and it is currently being shipped to me, hopefully problem free.

    :eek4:

Talk about quick service  I'd like to see Dell take core of its customers like that :o :mamoru2:

Yes, they are very quick at repairs, and I like how they keep you updated on the status online.

Apple rules at repairs. When my motherboard went on me 2 days out of warranty, the honored the warranty anyway. It was a week before the semester was ending and I had a bunch of stuff due that was on the computer. I told Apple that I had that stuff due. I told them not to rush, but to call me as soon as it was done. They estimated about a week turn around time. The next day they called me and said my computer was ready to be picked up.

your school should pay for a replacement. but you probably signed in your dorm contract that they do not have to pay for any damage to personal property due to building disaster.

welp, it turns out they replaced my LCD, the casing around it, the top case along with the keyboard, as well as the under casing :eek5: They also put in a new HD and some internal parts that apparently fixed the screen flickering :eek5:

    Apple

Could have been a silent recall... Not to get into how Apple works and such(being a former employee and all), usualy its a pretty decient service. The extended Applecare usualy nets you faster turnaround times and such(store and mail).

it is going to depend on what the problem is but most problems are fixed within hours of it being received from apple and sent out that same day, you will NEVER find a better cs than apple's applecare, its amazing
