Im new to the digital SLR cameras and in the market for one. Ive seen and snapped with the Olympus e300 Evolt and really liked the speed. Im ready to purchase it, but then I saw a Canon Powershot Pro1 that caught my eye. Didnt get to play with it so didnt get a feel for it like i did with the Olympus. Does anyone have any feedback on either camera? I have a canon rebel and really like it...do they make good digital cameras too? Or should i go with a completely different make? Suggestions/recommendations?

Basically Im looking for a camera that takes great action shots...which is my biggest concern. I want to be able to point and shoot with no/minimal delay with the camera.

the powershot pro1 is not an SLR...get the digital rebel if you are familiar with canon SLRs

the xt will be a better sports camera than the evolt. the af is faster and more accurate, plus you have a lot more lenses to choose from, and 2.8fps vs 2.5fps.

i learned slr on a canon film rebel and going to the 300d has been very easy...its honestly easier to use than a lot of the point and shoots when it comes to changing settings and such

What do you want? A point and shoot or a SLR? They're both very very VERY different cameras. :hsugh: I think you need to do some more research before you make a purchase. Spending nearly a thousand dollars on anything is no joke and it sounds like you don't know anything about what you're getting yourself into...

Yea, just figure out that the powershot wasnt an SLR. Definately looking for a SLR...so now Ive got my eye on the Nikon D100. Its a gift, so as you can see...i dont know sqwat about these things...learning more as i do some searchs online, than going out to check them out in person.

Shes going to be using this for a future business, wedding photography. Is either of these cameras the way to go...or should i just shell out for the SLR Pro?

Yea, i played around with that one and liked it...but looks like its gonna be the Nikon D2h or the D1x...made me throw up when i saw the prices. Guess better get it now instead of wasting the money on something we're gonna upgrade on anyways.
