Olympic weights are fuckin awesome

    ive been busy with school lately and have only been going to the gym maybe 1-3 times every 2 weeks :hs: surely gotten weaker in some upper body areas

    YET

    just joined a new gym that has the best rock climbing in the bay and a real oly set, and i destroyed my old clean and press PR simply due to the fact that i knew i could dump the weight if i had to

    old clean and press PR: 195x1 on a good day

    yesterday: 205x5 !

    pretty damn cool

    i thought most oly plates are in KG.

    So, a 20 Kg plate is about 43 lbs.

    not the regular 45 lbs..
    still remember this from throwing days.. all olympic lifts were hard as fuck to calculate

    CCSF built that new gym last year and it has oly platforms and bumper plates and the whole deal. I know a chick who's taking oly weight lifting class there, I'm thinking about taking the class next year.

    if they have good coaches you should definitely take it. its hard to find oly coaches

    well theres no problem here since these bumper weights were in lb's

    if i lifted 205 kg then id be even stronger than i imagined :eek3:

    do they have one of those gyms for regular lifts like bench? i always wanted to do 300x5 (current best is 225x1)

    use 2.5lb plates...

    45 lb bar + 4 45's + 2 35's + 2 2.5's=300

    so what were you doing this whole time that added so much strength to your strict press? or were you doing jerks?

    I don't know how anybody gets a 205x5 strict press without training their ass off for it.

    I think he was making a joke that he wants to join a gym that magically adds lbs to his lifts. naturally it wasn't funny because he's goad.
