Older Laptop Wifi Question

    I may be getting an older ibm a30, i looked at the original options and it says:
    # Modem with 56 K V.90 technology (V.92 capable), 10/100 Ethernet, 802.11b wireless LAN, Bluetooth wireless PAN,and 8x DVD, 24x CD drive, or DVD/CDRW combo drive. (Options depending on model)


    Now my question is, can i buy a mini pci wifi g card and install it and be able to use wireless g instead of the b? Is it dependant upon the card i install or something else? Excuse my noobness, dont know a whole lot about this, thanks

    just curious but do you mean mini pci or pcmcia wireless card?

    i mean mini pci, the card that would go into the mini pci slot in the bottom of the computer

    just buy one that goes in the cardbus slot, that laptop has one

    ya, it comes with one, but id rather not have a card sticking out of it, just a personal preference
