I have an old VHS tape of Macross DYRL - I think I got it in the late 80s Maybe 1991 at the very latest. It has JAPANESE subs and is dubbed in English, but the English has a heavy Japanese accent.

Does anyone have any information about this version? Was this version ever put on DVD? The copy is getting very old and deteriorated and I'd really like to find a new copy of it, preferrably on DVD.

Thanks, but did you even read what I described? The version I have is dubbed in Engrish with Japanese subtitles. That link is:

    • Dialogue: Japanese
    • Subtitle: English , Chinese (On/Off)
Opposite of what I'm looking for.

That's why I'm wondering what the story was behind this version. Waaaay back when I got it someone thought it might have been used as a way to teach English, but that was a rumor. :dunno:

It's no rumor but an edition that's a bit hard to find. I've also heard that it was used as an English tutor, some people say it's closer to the source material than Robotech.

Are you sure you don't have a copy of Clash of the Bionoids?

Wow... That's cool. Now I *really* want to find a better quality version. Any ideas where I can look for more information on this?

I never saw it, but I don't think so. It has the Japanese Macross logo and everything at the beginning. All the credits look original and never mention Clash.

Flashback 2012 could've been a LOT more than a 25 minute clip show with 5 minutes of all new footage. But those images of the Megaroad, Misa, Hikaru, and Minmay close the chapter of SDF: Macross is grand fashion. You just wish it could've been a full fledged ending instead of a tease.

    QFT.

I wish they would go back and pick up the series where 2012 leaves off.
