i hate bringing my briefcase and my Slingshot when i go on vacation - bringing a backpack that will hold a laptop & camera w/ lenses would be sweet.

    anyone have any recommendations?

    must hold
    XTi (or 40D)
    3 smaller zoom lenses
    1 large (70-200 f/4)
    laptop

    :dunno:

Look at the National Geographic Earth Explorer.

Also Adorama has a cheaper version of it. - I'm going to but this one.

People like the Tamrac Adventure 9 as well.

That's a lotta lenses to be on vacation with. You might want to consolidate into your very basic *need* lenses. You should also try enjoying the vacation, b/c if you do too much shooting, you're going to forget to have fun. I brought a wide-angle fish-eye + mid-range zoom on my vacation and I was perfectly happy with those. I never felt the need for over 50mm except for 1 occassion.

I brought my Lowepro CompuDayPack on vacation with me and it held my snorkel & googles, swimming trunk, flash, 17-50mm, and my D200 w/ mounted fisheye when I was out shooting at the beach. You can sub the snorkel & googles for the Laptop when I was flying home.

yeah, you're probably right ... i guess it would really just be the 10-22 and maybe teh 70-200 if i bought it as well. and a flash.

maybe i'll just get a smaller top-loader or something

i really dig that one. i like the 'rugged' look of it - looks a lot different than your usual camera bag.

true. plus, i want to consolidate my briefcase (laptop/charger/ipod/magazines/snacks/cables/etc) and my Slingshot (slr, 3 lenses, flash, cards, etc) into one thing.

i might just get that adorama backpack ... does anyone know who makes it (obviously someone other than Natl Geographic & Adorama) so i could get one without the stitched logo?

In all the reviews I've found, people just sew a patch or a a piece of military velcro over the logo to cover it up.

I'm going with this bag cause I can carry everything I need for a night at a friends college or a weekend in the woods.
