it's still sitting in the box, waiting for MWSF... but I've been thinking all week, why not just go with a black MB? I could save at least $300, enough for an iPhone or new iPod if they're announced on tuesday. Plus, it has a form factor I like better, magnetic latches, and dammit all, black is sexier than aluminum, yeah I said it.

OTOH, mbp has obvious advantages including expresscard, confirmed draft-n wireless, bigger screen, illum. keyboard, dedicated graphics etc. which is why I justified the higher price in the first place. :hs:

and I thought the deciding was over :hsd: what would you do? I can request an RMA up to the 12th without any charges incurred :o

Size aside, I fail to see ANY reason to want a MB over a MBP. If the ultra-slim 12-13" MBP that's been in the rumors comes out, that may be the perfect system for you (assuming your main attraction to the MB is the smaller size). Oh, and aluminum > black any day of the week, twice on Sundays

I would NEVER use a mac book, and chosing one over a mbp is quite comical imo. I just hate the keyboard/plastic casing. Black is ugly anyways.

...and not to mention integrated graphics lol.

    Just open it.
who cares MB or MBP, both laptops are good. I went with the MB mostly because I loved it's size and I couldn't justify the price difference when all I do is browse net/music/IM

I want a macbook in addition to my MBP. Sure, I could sell this and then buy a Macbook instead and save some money, but I like gaming on this thing, and the Macbook sucks at that... I love the form factor, and would love to have a C2D...

Seriously, the macbook plastic feels even cheaper than my old crapbox HP and Gateway laptops. It reminds me more of a Zune than an Ipod.

I do wish they would make a black anodized aluminum MBP. THAT would be fucking hotness.

mbp owners, how do you find the portability of the laptop? I <3 my gf's black macbook a ton, it looks like just the right size. guys I know at school / work with mbps like them, but they always seem so bulky. thoughts? :hs: I have some time to mull this over before MWSF. :dunno:

also for the dudes who don't like the mb plastic.. just curious, have you handled one for awhile? they're extremely well-built, the black one in particular. the magnetic latch closing actually feels more secure than the physical mbp / pb latch, IMO.

oh and thanks for all the responses :big grin: believe it or not it's helping me to make a damn decision once and for all :o I should've started a poll or something

I've got a 15inch Macbook (lolzilla has a 17 I think) and the size is perfect. I rode a 4 hours car ride (someone else drove) and watched grey's anatomy in widescreen the entire ride. It wasn't too big, the screen looked amazing and it was never uncomfortable. I was in a Taurus too so it wasn't the spaciest of cars.

Anyways, I've found my laptop to be pretty damn portable. I've got no problem taking it places, that being said I'm not a college student who carries it to every class or anything like that, but I take it places and its no problem.

Black anodized aluminum 12.1" MBP with Magsafe latch :x::x: I would sell my MBP to get one of those, it would be so sexy.

I agree, I take it back and forth to work every day and I don't complain. Sometimes I also take my work 12" Acer with me as well and it's still not too heavy (Acer is ultra-light).

I've taken it to Freebirds (mmm, burritos), restaurants to discuss projects with friends, and on business trips. Never skipped a beat and never felt :ugh: about taking it out and working on things.

you could probably get it anodized yourself if that doesn't come out if you want it bad enough. it seems possible.

the keys and keypad aren't aluminum, as are a few bits of trim. It wouldn't work too well.
