It's changed very slightly, almost like the camera is coming out of the moons shadow. I'm wondering if it's going to keep getting gradually revealed ahead of next Wednesday's announcement.

It's a somewhat interesting little marketing ploy, if you're into that sort of thing.

I wanted to post this the other day

'Apparently, the words "Destined Evolution" are the phonetic translation of the Japanese words "Te Sin Ve Lu Chan" (the characters shown on the Canon Japan website), which when translated to English (loosely) means "Successor to the number 5".

    'Te Sin Ve Lu Chan'

Does not remotely resemble a phonetic Japanese translation. :o

the whole point of the 5d was that it was a sleek full frame, targeted at journalism. making the successor the size of the 1D would defeat the purpose. i hope it looks almost identical to the old one, because its my favorite camera atm.

I just decompiled and went through that flash file line by line, hoping they were using a date based algorithm to automatically reveal what it was supposed to all the way to the end... no such luck, they only include a static bmp that is the final image.

    Those are not Japanese words...
At least the Romaji does not represent Japanese characters. There is no "Sin", "Ve", or "Lu" present in the Japanese language.

Similarly, the number 5 in Japanese is "Go" or "Itsutsu"

I say this having not read that link or looked at Canon JP's website.

    Its not a 1D.
Everyone does this to this picture but apparently everyone also overlooks the massive MODE DIAL on the top of the camera.

No, the product position of the 5D was as an advanced amateur camera and it was not intended as a professional tool by any means. Canon has been very clear on this for the life of the camera thus far.

That's not to say that they might not try to change the product position with the sucessor product, but the fact is the 5D was NOT marketed at PJ's or other pros. It's always been intended as a niche camera catering to hobbyists and serious amateurs. Even the production volume and features support this position.

Well, fortunately, we only have another week till the wraps are taken off of this thing.

    'bout fucking time.

Of course, if China doesn't let us down, we should see a leak by Saturday or Sunday. :mamoru:

Maybe it's a modular system which has been rumored to have been in the works for both companies.

Isn't RED working on a specific DSLR iteration?
