Ok... HT setup... help, surrounds... and rate other stuff. NOW WITH PICS OF ROOM!

    Here's what I'm looking at...
Receiver: Yamaha RX-V3800(purchasing) (Maybe stepping down to the 1800?)
    Subwoofer: Epik Knight(purchasing)
Fronts: Athena Audition F2.2s (reworked, upgraded crossovers and tweeters)(own)
Center: Athena Audition C1.2 (upgraded crossover and tweeter(own)

    I need 4 surrounds... help?

Thoughts on other components? The Athena's were my friend's, who was driving them with an ADCOM 7805 which is why we melted the stock crossovers :mamoru: He just replaced them with some B&W's, and I got these for a steal. They sound pretty damned good now that they've been reworked.

Guess I should add budget... I'm looking to spend ~600 for surrounds... I can split that up either into 4 (2 side, 2 rear) or 2 (rears only) ... I don't know which would be better...

Do you want bookshelf's for the rear? If so look at AV123, the Paradigm Mini monitors and Titans. I'm using 5.1 and will until I build a dedicated theater room, and even then I'll just prewire for 7.1 capability.

Good choice on the sub. I ordered mine about 1.5 weeks ago and should have it by the first week of May. I can't fucking wait.

Also, check out the Denon AVR3808, it's price with the Yamaha 3800. It's a really bad ass receiver. I've messed with a bunch of them. I have a 3805 that I will be upgrading later to either a 4308, or I'll get the standalone Denon amplifier and run it off my 3805 for now.

I don't know actually... I want something I can hang on the walls, I'll attach some pics. I'm thinking the 3800 is a bit much for my purposes, and I'll be stepping down to the 1800... I was looking at 4 of these:

The avs123 site has alot of offerings... suggestions?

    Here's the room:

52" westinghouse, and component rack, and speaker connections:

Ignore the mess, still moving in, you can see the speaker outlets just above the windows:

sorry it took so long to answer bro! :sadwavey:

ok, so in a nutshell, for surrounds, you really can get away with the av123 X-series or XLT monitors:

the athena fronts are good, but honestly, you can do much better with either DIY or if you dont wanna build, then with the new X-static or swan Diva 6.1s

subwoofer is a good choice, and receiver is very good too.

As I said, the athena's were reworked, and sound pretty good to my untrained ear (this may change when I go over and hear my buddies B&W's :mamoru:) and they were also 100$ for the center, and both fronts since he just didn't want to deal with them :mamoru: I may change them out later, but for now they will have to do...

As for those, would I just want a pair for the rear or should I get 2 pairs and do surrounds and rears?

And links for the DIY fronts should I investigate this option? What would be changed or improved? Baffles? Entire cabinet? drivers only?

you will make KILLER cabinets....I have some of my own designs, but still need some tweaking. Your best bet, is do one of the following:

    mini MAXX:

Yeah... that would be a project for another day. My stuff rarely comes out looking nice. Always functional, rarely nice :mamoru:

SO what about my other question? 2 or 4 surrounds? :hsd:

Cool, yeah my plan is to use all 4 wall plates for surrounds, and put the fronts on the floor on either side of the component stand there.
