I'm going shooting with my buddies on friday and I want to take some ammo so I don't feel so bad about blasting theirs but naturally I don't want to take the wrong stuff. Is 9x19 and 9mm lugar the same round? yes I'm a noob but I'm trying to learn

You sir are a good friend. Please don't feel bad about asking questions. If I went out with a friend I invited to go shooting and he brought ammo, I would immediately make him my best man if I ever got married

nope don't own anything yet (didn't have the money/want prior to a few months ago) but I've really gotten into them lately. I've got a short list of what I'm looking at right now:
    g19
    g30
    xd sub 9mm
    xd compact .45
    sig 229
    250
    naturally the EBR's
    and the M1

pistol will come first probably but i'm not sure about the da/sa on the sig. i shot an h&k usp .40 with the da/sa and i'm just not at the level where that would work for a carry piece

I have one and wont (well, might but not for what I bought it for) sell it, but you should look into a Steyr M9. There is a company called CDNN and they bought all of them out. You can/could get them for $350 +transfer to your ffl. Its a great gun (you might not hear that here from the xd/sig/glock crew even though I am glock crew) and if they still have them or you could get one for around that price, it would be a good starter pistol

Sig 229 is for the win. I know a lot of guys here prefer the striker fire pistols...but I'd take a Sig over a Glock anyday.

In the end though it all comes down to what you shoot the best. Go to a big range that allows you to test a variety of pistols (i.e. my range allows me to test as many pistols as I want within given amount of time). Buy whichever one you feel most comfortable with and whichever one you feel the best with should be the gun you chose

Good man. Even if you brought the wrong caliber, they'd appreciate what you're doing.

I'm gonna be part of the Sig crew and just say...fire a Sig before you make any decisions. I didn't see any Sig's on your list that you fired previously, but get a good variety of pistols under your belt before you purchase.
