Buddy of my went and bought a 91' jeep cherokee with the 4.0 I6.

Took for it for a test drive and I noticed at low speeds the oil pressure guage sits at like 20-25ish then when we get around 50-60 MPH it jumps to 40ish.

What cuases this and should I tell me buddy he bought something dumb?

He bought it real cheap and only cuase its 4x4 to go mudding and shit so hes half way interesting in fixin it up if its worth it.

I had a old Chevy truck with a 305 that had around 5-7 lbs at idle, and 10-15 at speed, ran fine for years that way and never had a problem. 20+ is good enough pressure, might go up a bit with fresh oil.

rule of thumb is that you want to see about 10 psi for each 1000 rpms

Yeah he bought it off a guy at his job thats wife was making him get rid of it. The guy bought it brand new in 91 and apperently has taken exceptional care of it.
