i came home and my ninja 500 was on it's side in the garage. got it stood back up and started it up. the oil light won't go off. i checked the sight window, and it's full. what else do i need to do, or should it be okay to ride?

How long does it stay on? How did it manage to tip over inside your garage?

If no oil leaked you should be alright, when i've dropped my bike on it's side, the oil light stays on for a few minutes, but after it runs for a bit (idle), it turns off

based on the kickstand(which was all the way down when i left, and all the way up when i returned) i'd say my mom or wife bumped it and either didn't realize it or is too afraid to tell me.

that's the bitch. the sight window is full, but there's oil on the chin spoiler. it fell on my oil drain pan, so i don't know if the oil is from there or drained out of the bike.

Check your airbox oil can end up in there if bikes been on its side could be dripping down from there.

also depending how long it was on its side could of gotten oil in the cylinders, you dont want it to go boom, if you already had it running for a bit though then thats probably not the case.

Have you noticed any oil leaks since this?

If you are still nervous, err on the side of caution and just put some more oil in the bike

well, per a suggestion on another site, i loosened the oil filter, started it for a few seconds then tightened the filter back and restarted. that did the trick. i now need to add a bit of oil, but i have some leftover so i'm good to go.
