I have a 7bolt 4g63. I have oil in the driverside sparkplug well. It covers the bottom portion of the sparkplug (the threading). Also, that sparkplug wire likes to pop off sometimes. Please tell me it isn't a bad ring.

It's more than likely the little gasket underneath the valve cover, between it and the head.

If it goes bad, it will let oil leak down into the top of the spark plug, but it will not leak down into the combustion chamber.

if the spark plug wire likes to pop off then go get new spark plug wires. do you have alot of oil consuption? if you dont, then i wouldn't pack your bags for the end of the world yet. i'd check out the valve cover gasket first, those always get weak on older engines anyway. should be a pretty easy job to replace on that engine
