(for the poll): Which will make me happier?

    Help me decide WMD.

    a. AR
    b. M14
    c. something else?

also: Which costs less? In the long run?

    edit:

So far the votes are just about even. :squint:

I'm thinking... maybe a little bit more people would vote for the AR, since a significant # of OTWMD'ers have experience with one.

Please state reason for your vote! Tell me why you love it!

    kthxbye

Does California consider the m14 an assault rifle?

depends on the muzzle device. The USGI flash supressor would make it an AW, but a brake would make it a regular rifle

    Get both!
Get an AR if you want to spend less money on the rifle & the ammunition.
Get an M1A (M14) if you want a spectacular rifle.

As far as cheaper goes, I believe the difference is currently that one is $.15 cheaper every time you pull the trigger.

    How is the AK anyway?

I've only had experience with it in computer games... :o

And it wouldn't be fun without full auto anyway amirite?

Looks like I'll pick up one of theirs then.

    Which one do you recommend?

    Service or the target one?

What else do you have left minus the AR's?

I got the service which shoots great, I rarely get to shoot past 400yds so I probably wouldn't see much benefit out of the match model.

    I have several AK's so I don't really miss the AR's much.

When I got mine they were still going for like $1900, I traded a non-cmp garand, several spam cans of '06 and a couple hundred bucks for the rifle, case and a few mags.

m1a != m14. i mean yes they are basically the same, but one has a happy switch and the other does not (unless you have one of the 1000 m1a's from the 70's that was made with the happy switch)
