I've mentioned it in a few posts already, but never really made an announcement... if any one cares. :hsugh:

But last friday was my last day employed with Import Tuner (Source Interlink). It was a dream job for the 3.5yrs I was there, but later found myself creatively restricted. For over a year I've been doing more sidework, building my web presence, applying what i've learned at the magazine, and now it's gotten to the point where random people call me for freelance work :wiggle:

I left on great terms, and in return I already have 4 confirmed freelance jobs within the next 2mo. And that's just the magazines, not my already accumulated freelance jobs. Moral of that little story is DON'T BURN BRIDGES!

So I'll be chugging out a lot of personal work now. I used to be mad jealous of everybody posting up new projects week after week, now I have plenty of time :)

For fun I spread most of my mags on the floor and took a pic. Oh the pain it gives me to look at all of these

...now i gotta pay my own health insurance and take out taxes :wtc:

on the plus side, you probably wont ever have trouble getting a job (if you ever want to) with all that experience behind you

Seriously that's the MAIN perk of having a job with that company. They're known as a monopolizer, but when you can put Import Tuner, Lowrider, Turbo, Sport Compact Car, etc on your resume AND know all the people that work for each magazine people listen. Especially if you leave on good terms.

    Define being creatively restricted.

I would love to have an opportunity to work at Import Tuner.

good luck mister... I've been a fan of your images since the "guy dodging bullets" thread. You do great creative work. I'm sure you'll do fine with a career in photography.

Already have a replacement, tried to hook up a fellow OTer but the competition was pretty fierce :noes:

Same magazine month after month, same template month after month, same people judging your work month after month. I had some creative freedom, but i had to stick to a certain style. The last issue I did (not on stands yet) a slight redesign. Can't wait to see it in print :)

Now I have a vast new freedom. On my list for the next 2 months are:
    Compositing tutorial DVD
    2 cover shoots for Lowrider
    1 shoot for European Car
    1 shoot of pro cyclist
    2 rap artists shoots
    Company branding logo/graphics
    Website for my sister :mamoru:

Different projects every day FTW :wiggle:
