    OT-

Ima gonna be 21 in about 6 months and Im starting to compile a list of potentials to pick up once I get my license, handgun that is...

I have experience with firearms and I am a pretty big person....I have always enjoyed the thought of a USP40 or 45 but I really dont know that much about what performs best in real life, not just on paper.

Lets hear your suggestions OT, no nickle plated nonsense or anything ridic, I just need something that I can keep on the downlow :)

I like the .45 USP, you cann't really go wrong with HK, Walther, Glock, or an XD. Goto a shop and handle a few see what feels the best in your hands.

For .45's I've owned 2 glocks and a Colt 1911 they've all been reliable and shot well for me, I prefer the Glocks over my 1911 due to mag capacity though.
For .40 I only own a P99 have shot alot of other makes though so far nothing has beat the ergo's of the P99 for me.

You must fondle them at a shop or better yet fire them at a range to find out which one is best for you. I thought I would like the Glocks, but they ended up pointing all wrong and I didn't like the trigger. I ended up liking Sig and HK instead.

  5. Shoot them all, then buy the Glock.

JK. Buy what feels best to shoot.

1911FTW. If you need more than 8 shots you're in a lot of trouble and better off running. :hs:

If you want to carry, it's not the most concealable of handguns. Unless you want a micro but they have a (sterotyping) bad rap for failures compared to the full size

I'm with Squid. HK, Walther, Glock, XD are all great choices. I'll add Sig to the group too. The new Smith M&P's are supposed to be pretty decent, even Ruger semi's perform well.

If you don't have a gun range in your area to test them, at least go to a gun shop and hold different models. Post pics when you've made your choice. :bigthumb:

It's true a full-sized 1911 isn't the easiest to carry concealed (although I'm intreagued by thunderwear. :mamoru: ) I'm wanting to get an Officer's model for that down the road a bit. :hs:

I have all of the popular makes of handguns. Have shot almost everything. My favorite out of all is the USP45.

my 1911 conceals better (for me) than most others, mainly due to it's thin-ness. Most modern weapons are much thicker which I find is more important than overall size.
