I figured I'd try some overhead squats with a bar just to see what all the fuss was about but I could only go down about 2" :o I can't seem to go down with my hands above my head (even without a bar). What do I do to get better?

Will improving this improve my squat?

Haven't done these in years, but I remember them being even harder to balance without any weight.

It's a tough lift to balance. Maybe some more stretching?

I wouldn't even call it a balance problem. It's like my body just doesn't know how to squat down when my hands are above my head :mamoru:

:werd: but start with what? I can't do the movement at all for some reason. It's not like it hurts or anything I just can't seem to make my muscles move the way I want :o

Will it help me squat more? If not I don't really care :x:

I started doing OH squats (2 sets of 10) with just the bar as a warm up for front and back squats. the bar moves backwards and I tip forward on my toes as I hit ass to calves. I have my lifting partner keep my form correct by pushing the bar forward when I go down and force myself to stay on my heels.

and from what I've read it does help your squat. I can't comment on that since I only stated doing them 2 weeks ago.
