haha I owned myself badly, I ordered two Dell 700m laptops today and was just sitting here at work and it hit me. I rebooted a big router with new software and got my laptop and cisco console cable ready incase I had to go troubleshoot it...then I realized I ordered a pair of laptops that don't have fukin serial ports :o

so anyway anyone know how well a USB to serial cable will get along with cisco

The cable will emulate a serial port, so there should be no problem with the Cisco gear working with it. Just get the drivers going in windows and it will probably emulate a com port there so all will be well.

We had this problem with our new Thinkpads last summer. They needed serial ports so the engineers could interface them with the PLCs on the machines.

Make sure the USB-serial adapter you get allows the Ctrl-Break sequence.
